5-Minute Morning Metabolism Boost Drink

metabolism boost drink

Hi friends!

You might already know that I’ve been having this Metabolism Boost Drink every morning since detox January! I’ve been sharing it in my stories on Instagram, and have received numerous inquiries about how to make it. So I’ve included the recipe below for you to try!

So, what the heck is in this morning drink that has become a daily regiment?

– Lemon juice

– Apple cider vinegar

– Ginger

– Cinnamon

– Cayenne Pepper

– Water

best drink to boost metabolism

This metabolism booster has become my ritual that I take before my breakfast, and after my morning workout.  I find it’s a wonderful way to start my day with a healthy mindset. It gives me the motivation I need to continue this mindset throughout the day.

As to whether or not this drink has actually boosted my metabolism…honestly, I don’t know. If there was a test I could take that would tell me TRUST ME I’d be all over it. But what I have noticed is that I feel really good from taking this morning drink. I feel energized, less bloated, and I haven’t been sick all winter. Now, whether I can attribute that entirely to this metabolism boost drink, I think not. There are many factors at play; I like to eat healthy, workout daily, and I try to get a good night sleep. These all play a big factor in revving up that metabolism. But I won’t disregard that this drink isn’t a positive addition to my efforts. And above all, I’ve been feeling really good about my body, and how it looks and feels. So I say, shots all around!

This recipe is sort of a hybrid of the many cayenne/lemon/ginger shots that’s been passed around the health and fitness community for decades. The reason why this said drink is to be a metabolism boost is because it has a lot of ingredients that aid in fat loss. Apple cider vinegar being the most trendy as of late. A quick google search will tell you that ACV reduces the speed at which glucose (sugar) enters the blood, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels is what causes our body to store fat. I have some friends who will take a spoonful of AVC every morning because of its said benefits, but I imagine that intense burn going down is not very good for our oesophagus! Thats one of the reasons I love this drink so much, it’s a great way to dilute it.

I think the fact that ACV is fermented must also have something to do it fat burning benefits. Fermented foods in general are so good for our digestion because the active bacterial culture helps create a healthy gut. So I imagine it’s also connected to our metabolism.  Just one tip when you’re buying ACV: You want the liquid to be a bit cloudy, or have some sediment at the bottom of the bottle. I used to think it meant the bottle was expired, but actually it’s a good thing!  That tells you it’s a quality ACV that actually has some live bacterial culture in it.

Now, I don’t want to get too consumed in explaining all the health benefits of each ingredient in this recipe because I’m not a nutritionist, and I’m sure your Googling skills are just as good as mine. But as I said I’ve been turning to this little mocktail every morning for a healthy start to my day because I like how it’s making my body and healthy mentality feel. So I’ve shared this super easy recipe in case it helps you too. And when I say easy I mean it! I’ve got a bit ambitious with the photos for this recipe, cutting the ginger into stars, and adding little cinnamon stir sticks,  but that’s only because the pictures had to be pretty enough to post! I promise you that the ginger tastes just the same whether being cut into a stars or not. 😉

I really hope you enjoy this morning metabolism boost drink as much as I do, and that you reap all the healthy benefits. If anything, know that this healthy little drink is rich with nutrients and fat-burning properties to get your day off to a healthy start.

Bottoms up!

  1. I am 73 years old I am a diabetic and I am overweight I read over your recipes and I’d sure like to try them I need your help desperately this is from Ron Chapman because the first one come out wrong

  2. I have a w I have had a weight problem for quite some time I’m 73 I’m a diabetic and I lied to lose this weight so I And look better please help

    • Hi Julie, each drink is made with 1 to 2 oz of the infused water (feel free to add splashes more to your drink if you find it too strong). The infused water is made in advance so that you can recreate this drink with ease as much as you like. I like to have this drink every morning. And during my 3-day cleanse I make this drink a couple of times a day. I hope this helps to clarify things!

  3. Omg, I had to reread it multiple times and read it very slow.
I know what to do now, lol. It’s very small. So the 4 cups of infused water should be good for the entire 3 day cleanse, is my next question?

  4. Do you drink the entire 4 cups first thing in the morning or do you just drink 2 cups in the morning then 2 cups in the afternoon or evenings? Or do we split it into 4 different servings? I’m at a loss right now because I’m Preping right now. And this will be my first ever detox cleanse

    • Hi Tamara! each drink is made with 1 to 2 oz of the infused water (feel free to add splashes more to your drink if you find it too strong). The infused water is made in advance so that you can recreate this drink with ease as often as you like. I like to have this drink every morning. And during my 3-day cleanse I make this drink a couple of times a day. I hope this helps to clarify things!

  5. I just saw this recipe and wrote it down, I’ll make this soon as possible.
I’ll rate it soon as I see any changes Thank you

    • Hi Jennifer! I’m not a strict intermittent faster, but personally I wouldn’t associate this drink with breaking the fast. (Similar to how some people think having a cup of black coffee doesn’t break the fast, while others do). It’s up to you how you deem it! But I do hope you give this drink a try as I really like it for a metab boost!

  6. Hello! I’m well into day 2 of the cleanse. Everything tastes good but I’m not having any bowel movements. Is this normal? I thought that would be a big part of the cleanse result?

    • Hi Sam! Thanks for checking in. The cleanse should definitely be helping with bowel movements, as it’s so fibre rich! But should not be causing you to have excessive bowel movements (as some cleanses will do). That’s definitely not the intention of this cleanse. My recommendation would be to drink plenty of water during the the cleanse and keep up daily movement. I hope this helps Sam!

    • Hi Samantha! The cleanse shouldn’t be causing constipation, as it’s so fibre rich. Everything in the cleanse should aid with digestion. That said, it also shouldn’t be giving you uncontrollable bowel movements (which some cleanses are known to do). That’s not the intention of this cleanse. My recommendation, in addition to the 3 day cleanse is to make sure you’re drinking PLENTY of water, and getting in movement through day. I hope this helps!!

  7. Hi,

Can we heat up the drink to have it more like a warmer drink ? The infused water will come out from the fridge so very cold to have it as a first thing in your stomach in the morning.

    • Hi Mariem! Of course you can have it hot instead if you prefer. Sounds like a great idea. 🙂

  8. Hi Virginia! I drink the whole thing, it’s a pretty small cup depending on how much of the infused water you use. As for the infused water, I keep that in the fridge so I can use it for this recipe through the week. Hope that helps!

  9. Hey!! I have super early and busy mornings, is it possible to batch the lemon juice/apple cider vinegar/cayenne as well? Or Better to do fresh each morning?
