Hi guys! Today I’m sharing with you a delicious recipe for my autumn inspired vegan bircher bowl, made using groceries from iHerb.
Actually, I’ve been a customers of iHerb’s loooong before this collab. Being plant-based in France is a little tricky when it comes to finding all the plant-based products that I enjoy, like hemp hearts or plant-based protein powder. And so, my husband and I will often use iHerb to buy certain plant-based ingredients for cheaper and in bulk. We find the prices are much better on iHerb compared to Amazon.
A little looksie at the iHerb website
What I love about iHerb is that they offer top quality food brands to choose from. Many of the brands are organic, fair trade, and non GMO; all things that are important to me when purchasing packaged goods. For me, it’s about voting with my dollar, and so I like to support companies that engage in these sorts of practices. I love that iHerb supports these companies too, with healthy, humane, and sustainable initiatives at the forefront of their partnerships.
Most importantly though is the quality of the products. I’ve tried many of the brands they offer on the site, and hold them to high regard when it comes to buying quality products – such as the Sun Warrior plant-based protein, or Manitoba Harvest hemp hearts. I think there must be a team of people working at iHerb solely as taste testers, to rule out all the bad brands, because there isn’t a single company on their list that I don’t like. This gives me confidence in ordering with iHerb even if I haven’t tried a certain brand. Since they hold their partnerships to such high standards, it’s likely that I will be happy with the products that arrive.
What’s also great about this online grocer is that it’s a one-stop-shop for all my grocery packaged-product needs. I’m one to become a fan of particular brands, so I’m usually running around the city from one store to the next. Buying my nuts here, and my spices and over there. iHerb consolidates my favourite brands all into one place, so that I can get all my pantry needs with the click of a button. This has been a godsend for time!
Now let’s get to the tasty stuff! This fall inspired vegan bircher bowl recipe, which I made with my groceries from iHerb. To make it, I purchased the following:
I absolutely loved the products that arrived (no surprise surprise). The nuts from Woodstock and Now Foods were new brands for me, and the nuts were super fresh in quality! What’s also great was their packaging – coming in resealable bags to keep them fresh to the very end. I especially loved the spices and vanilla extract from Frontier and Simply Organic. The cinnamon by Frontier in particular was a treat to discover. I’d never tried this brand before, and found their ground cinnamon to be so rich and aromatic. It’s probably the best quality cinnamon I’ve ever bought! I literally can’t stop opening it and taking in the delicious scent. I will definitely be trying more of the herbs and spices they offer on iHerb. It just goes to prove that even if you don’t know the brand, chances are you will be impressed.
The ingredients above, combined with some oat milk, a squeeze of lemon juice and shaved apple makes for a gorgeous fall infused bircher bowl. The flavours especially from the cinnamon, cardamom, maple syrup, shaved apple and nuts take full advantage of fall flavours. A bit of tanginess from the yogurt and lemon is the perfect way to round it out. I love this bowl for a cozy and wholesome, quick and easy breakfast.
What’s better is that this breakfast bowl can be made ahead, and enjoyed throughout the week. I made mine the night before and let the ingredients soak overnight. It gives sufficient time for the oats and chia to absorb or “sprout”, and to soften the nuts ever so slightly. Come morning you have a bowl of comfort. I reckon it would be the perfect bowl to serve Thanksgiving weekend, when you have many hungry guests, and need to save time and kitchen space for the main event.
Of course, you can always purchase the ingredients from your local grocers, but to guarantee a delicious bowl with quality ingredients, All iHerb Customers can get a discount off their iHerb order. And for a special October offer, *New Customers can get an additional $10 off their minimum $40 order by clicking here. (*Offer valid for new customers in select countries.
