I’ve never had much success with finding a good vegan brand when it comes to caesar dressing; and I’ve tried my fair share. If you’re interested, here is a list of top favourite vegan caesar dressing brands from Peta. (Perhaps I’m a tad more picky than them – as I have tried many on the list. But this homemade version is the best! Plus, it’s SO easy to make my recipe).

Is caesar dressing vegan?

Typically, caesar dressing is not vegan. It’s made with anchovies, egg, and parmesan cheese. All-in-all, the ingredient list is not vegan, nor comprised of the healthiest ingredients. After all, we don’t usual think of caesar salad as being a healthy salad.

This salad dressing however is made with wholesome ingredients that you can feel good about tossing your greens in! The recipe is comprised of tahini, dijon mustard, lemon juice, sea salt, pepper and water. It’s so simple and healthy!

The result is a creamy, velvety and tangy dressing. I’ve served this to vegans and vegan skeptics and everyone loves this blend! Trust me when I say there is no compromise on flavour with this healthy dressing.

This recipe will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. Store in an air-tight container or in a glass jar.

Add a splash of water to thin as desired if you find that the dressing has become thicker from refrigerating.

  1. Holy cow. Yummy. This is my new go-to dressing recipe. Trying to incorporate more vegan staples in my life and ceasar salads are one my faves, so this is perfection!

    • Hi Whitney. I am thrilled you enjoyed this recipe so much! Good on you for incorporating more vegan staples into your life! If you ever have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out, and thanks so much for the sweet comment.

  2. This recipe sounds yummy! I’ve been using Trader Joe’s vegan Caeser’s (which is pretty tasty), but I’d love to make my own.

Question: is the mustard the smooth, creamy kind? I have both mustard seeds and powder. I’m never quite sure what to use when recipes call for mustard! 🙃

    • Hi Lorna! Thanks so much for your message! For this recipe, you can use either smooth dijon mustard or the grainy kind! I love them both! In this recipe, I’ve used the smooth dijon mustard. But as I said, it’s up to you which you prefer. The smooth dijon mustard makes for a smoother dressing consistency, but the taste will be just the same with either choice. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
