Extra-Thick Vegan Coffee Milkshake

vegan coffee milkshake

Hi guys! Say hello to this mammoth coffee milkshake! What I like to call, THE GODFATHER. This milkshake is EXTRA THICK, made with coffee, almond butter, oats, dates and frozen bananas to make the ultimate sweet treat to beat the heat! Enjoy it for breakfast or snack time to keep you full and satiated.

So I’ll admit, this isn’t typically my sort of smoothie. You might have noticed? I more so tread the line of the green smoothie fan base, sneaking in some kale, spinach or parsley, even cilantro and frozen cauliflower at times (don’t judge it till you try it!). But sometimes a girl’s got to have a little indulgence, and when that time comes The GODFATHER comes calling. However, I will always be a health girl at heart (#sorry!) so although rich and decadent, this milkshakes too rings a healthful tune made from unprocessed wholefoods with no refined sugars (#sorrynotsorry!). So sit and sip with ease, because there’s no need to feel bad about slurping up the very last remains of this coffee milkshake. It would be criminal not to.

I am SO in love with the flavour profile in this Godfather Milkshake. The date and almond butter makes it so sweet and creamy, the espresso give caffeine kick plus that rich coffee taste we all adore, and the oats and banana thicken this bad boy into the perfect consistency. It’s intoxicating! In fact, the idea came about from a cafe I visited while in Sydney Australia, called Cali Press. On the menu was a beautiful coffee infused smoothie much the same as this one, with the cheeky name: The Godfather. My friend insisted I try it, and although my eyes were drifting down the page to the familiar kale and spinach options I gave in to her demand. Turns out, I LOVED it! The Godfather was rich, creamy, thick and refreshing! Not to mention the weather that day was a whopping 42 degrees, so a cold smoothie treat was just what the doctor ordered. I made a point not to forget the beautiful flavour profile of this decadent dream smoothie so that I wouldn’t have to take the 24 hour flight the next time I was stuck in a heat wave and craving something sweet. Although the struggle is real.

So here we have my rendition of The Godfather. A beautiful blend of coffee, oats, almond butter, banana and dates. A milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard. Thanks Cali Press for this life changing drink. I owe you one!

    • Hi Barbara! I took some chocolate sauce and squirted it around the inside of the cup. 🙂
