Happy St. Patty’s Day! I thought to celebrate the occasion I’d share this lucky green kiwi and mango smoothie! Made by blending frozen mangoes, kiwi and banana and topping with more kiwi, coconut flakes, granola, buckwheat and chia! I figured since we’re likely to spend the rest of the day on a liquid barley diet, why not get in the fruits and veg first thing? 😉
Sooo what are your plans for St. Patrick’s Day? Dress in green, grab some sparkly hats and hit up an Irish pub after work? I WISH I WERE DOING THAT! Sadly, I have no plans for tonight. And before you go ahead and call me a bore, don’t I already know it! Actually, the reason I’m not going out to celebrate is because I’m working tomorrow on a little TWO SPOONS feature, and so I want to make sure I’m well prepped and slept. I knooow I’m such a loser, but I’ve always been this way! If there is something important the next day, like a big work function or event, I can’t let loose until it’s over! I’ve always admired the people who can party till 3 a.m. on a Wednesday night, wake up at 6 and cruise into a client meeting looking like they just got back from the spa. Nuh-uh, not me. I am the walking dead if I haven’t had at least 7 hours sleep and a big breakfast. (My husband would like to me correct this last statement to needing at least 17 hours of sleep – okay I need A LOT!, should I be concerned he was fine with my comment about looking like the waling dead?). And after a night of drinking? Game over! My work would be calling security thinking a stranger just walked into their meeting because you wouldn’t recognize me. I’m a dishelved mess hovering over tea like it’s the answer to my hangover, wearing sunglasses indoors btw because my eyes have become too sensitive to the light.
So suffice to say I’ll be skipping out on the green festivities this Friday, and settling down to a green tea and a couple reruns of Gilmore Girls before an early sleep. Saturday night however is fair game… Eh, I’ve never been timely anyways. Enjoy your St. Patty’s Day and this lucky Green Kiwi Smoothie, whichever day you plan to celebrate!
