Apple Crumple

This apple crumble is a traditional warm and comforting dish that you can enjoy for breakfast or dessert. It's quick and easy to make, and a great way to use up wrinkly apples.

Ingredients

Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup almond flour (ground blanched almonds)
  • 1/2 cup pecans coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Peel and core your apples, and cut into thin slices.
  • Make apple pie compote and add to cast iron skillet, or baking dish. (See notes for apple pie compote recipe).
  • Prepare your crumble topping. In a mixing bowl add oats, almond flour (ground almonds), pecans, coconut sugar, and salt. Melt coconut oil in a saucepan and pour over crumble topping. Mix well.
  • Sprinkle crumble topping over apple compote in an even layer. Place in the oven to bake for 30-45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.

Do ahead: Apple crumble can be made the night before and served cold, or reheat in the oven at 350F/180C for 20 minutes. Apple compote can made 3-5 days in advanced.
